This picture represents a first effort with a medium new to me - pen and ink.  It is rendered in the pointillist style, similar to a screen used in newspaper photo reproduction.  It has the advantage of reproducing well and can be used with other mediiums to add color if desired.  It has the disadvantage of being rather permanent when placing a mark on the paper.  For a beginner, that can be a bit nervous-making.
